HOW TO FIND THE BEST CHRISTMAS LIGHT DISPLAYS NEAR AND AROUND SACRAMENTO
When you hear Christmas music playing at the grocery store or catch one of the ubiquitous Christmas-related ads on TV or online, do you groan inwardly, or do you grin outwardly? If it’s the latter and you love the build-up to Christmas, do you enjoy taking yourself and your family on drives or walks to look at some of the beautiful and lavish Christmas light displays in and around Sacramento? But how do you know where to go to see the best displays, especially since the Sacramento area is so vast? Do we even need to say that everything is virtual these days? Of course, you can find beautiful Christmas light displays by driving around or by asking your friends and neighbors, but that sounds suspiciously like work to us! Here we’ve listed a few of our favorite websites you can use to track down the best neighborhoods for viewing Christmas light displays:
California Christmas Lights
We found a really cool site that shows you where to find the most beautiful Christmas light displays in California: Sacramento, the San Francisco Bay Area, the Central Valley, Los Angeles, and San Diego. California Christmas Lights (CCL; formerly Lights of the Valley) has been collecting and curating gorgeous Christmas light displays for 20 years and even lists the addresses that are verified for 2018! The site includes an interactive map feature where you can even plot your route to view Christmas light displays throughout Sacramento and the surrounding area (and even farther out, depending on where your holiday travels might be taking you)! You can add and remove houses to and from your route and even print out a list with directions. The site begins displaying a House of the Day on November 23 and continues through the holiday season. You can even submit a photo of your own house if you’d like to be featured. California Christmas Lights
The Sacramento Bee Website
The Sacramento Bee usually publishes a list of the best Christmas light displays in early December and encourages its readers to submit addresses as well. Here’s the page from 2017, which includes some beautiful images
Christmas Light Finder
This site calls itself “the original Christmas light finder,” and who are we to argue? This cool site uses your zip code to find the addresses of beautiful light displays near you. It displays a snapshot of the lights next to the listing, which we particularly liked.
