Your vehicle’s air conditioner works using a refrigerant to cool the air. This refrigerant needs to change states between a liquid and a gas. The compressor changes the gaseous refrigerant to a liquid state. It then moves through tubes to the condenser to absorb heat from the air. The refrigerant then travels on to the dryer (accumulator), where it cools down before going through the orifice tube or expansion valve (depending on how your system is constructed) to the evaporator. There, it contacts air from the car by way of the evaporator core. Fans blow cool air through the vents. The refrigerant then keeps moving and begins the cycle again. Although we’ll take care of all your auto AC repair needs, we think it’s helpful for you to understand how the system works.
