BEST RACE CAR EVENTS NEAR AND AROUND SACRAMENTO

Do you have the need...the need for speed? The good news is there are several racetracks near and around Sacramento if you're craving some action. Whether you're into dirt or asphalt, there's something for every car racing enthusiast at any speed. Below are some of the tracks within about three hours of the Sacramento region:
- All American Speedway
Website: www.allamericanspeedway.comThis popular paved oval track is the host of Grand National West Series, Whelen NASCAR All-American weekly series, stocks, and sprints (plus several other divisions.)
- Altamont Motorsports Park
Website: www.altamontracing.comThe Motorsports Park has an array of racetrack configurations which includes a quarter-mile oval, a 1.1-mile road, an interlocking 1/2 mile paved oval course and a figure-eight track. The main track is the biggest oval racetrack north of the Greater Los Angeles area. Altamont Motorsports Park includes stock car racing, USAC sprint cars, and NASCAR.
- American Valley Speedway
Websites: www.americanvalleyspeedway.com/American Valley Speedway is the biggest dirt track in California. It's the proud host of mini stocks, pro stocks, and go-karts. The raceway is 3/8-mile clay oval.
- Roy Hayer Memorial Speedway
Website: www.capitolqma.comThe Roy Hayer Memorial Speedway is home of the Capitol Quarter Midget Association. The 1/10th-mile dirt oval track has been the host to many professional racers, such as Paul McMahan and Jeff Gordon. This raceway also caters to children, ages 5 to 17, who are intrigued by racing.
- Infineon Raceway
Website: www.infineonraceway.comThe historic 2.12-mile road course plus quarter-mile drag strip at the Infineon Raceway is the home of NASCAR's Grand National West and Sprint Cups. In addition, Infineon Raceway hosts IndyCar, Grand-Am, NHRA, AMA Superbike, and other special events.
- Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca
Website: www.laguna-seca.comThe historic 2.238-mile road course is operated by the Sports Car Racing Association of the Monterey Peninsula. It hosts major motorcycle and open-wheel racing as well as vintage sports cars and other special events.
